Scrapbook Reflection

Dear Class,

My apologies for getting this post up so late.

Now that you have completed your scrapbooking assignment, I would like for you to reflect on your experience with it. Answer the following questions in AT LEAST three paragraphs of 5 sentences. However, if you need more time to express yourself please do...and do not feel limited to just answering these questions. Be honest...you will not get any credit taken away from you.

1. How did you enjoy/not enjoy this assignment? Explain why you enjoyed/did not enjoy the assignment?
2.What, if anything, did doing the scrapbook help you to learn (include content knowledge about your character, grammar, writing, etc.)?
3. What do you wish that you could have done with the scrapbook that you were not able to do in the time that you were given?
4. How did you feel about your presentation? What do you wish you could have changed/done over about your presentation?
5.Would you do this assignment again? If not, what would have to change about the assignment for you to want to do it again.
6. Be sure to add anything that I may have left off...any comments or feelings about the project are welcome.

Though you normally have one week to turn in your assignments on the blog, with your impending midterm coming, I would like both classes to turn in this work by THIS FRIDAY, January 27th. You may either respond on the blog itself OR turn it in physically to me on Friday during your class. That way you can have one more grade to serve as a boost to your midterm.

If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to me in class or email me at cmathews@tasok.net.

Ms. Mathews

I enjoyed this assignment. It was very fun pretending to be another character. Also, I learned about other people and how their life was. I wish that I could have found more pictures of Karl Schnibbe when he was a kid. If I had had more time I would have researched a little more about his family.

I felt good about my presentation. I wasn't really nervous and I spoke slowly. I also feel good about my presentation because everyone paid attention which made me think that they all understood what I was saying. I wish I could just reread my journal because I think I made a mistake while I was speaking. I also would have put a picture in the journal pages if i could re do it.

I wouldn't mind doing this assignment again. One reason is because I enjoyed seeing and hearing everyone's presentation. Also i find it easier to learn about things by doing projects. Another reason why I would do a scrapbook again is because I liked burning the paper to make it seem like it was from the past. Lastly, i would do this again because I loved looking at people creativity that they put into the scrapbook.

I liked and both did not like the assignment.I liked it because it was fun,I wanted a project like that one because these days were boring.i did not like it because sometimes it was hard to understand the thing and i got lots of tension.i had lots of fun it was not that easy.
when i did my scrap book i felt good and i learned much more things about my character.I was not having that courage to speak in front of the class but i still tried my best.i am happy with what i did.i wanted to share my ideas.I felt good about my presentation.I learned lots of things of other people.I like doing projects.i dont mind making a new one because by seeing others i get new ideas and i can use those ideas.I was nervous about my project.

    1. Arman, remember that your response needs to be AT LEAST 3 paragraphs. Remember that general rules of capitalization and punctuation still apply.

I really enjoyed having this experience. This is also the first scrapbook I have ever made. I learned about many different character's.I also learned about many different character's, and the way they suffered. it was fun being Helmuth Hubener because he tried to change the rules. The best part about him was that he listened to foreign radio which is prohibited in Germany. It was fun pretending as if we were the character's.

If I would have a little more time I could have made my scrapbook a bit better.I could have added more pictures and make it a bit more oldish. I felt good about how I presented but I was kind of nervous while presenting to the class.I could have also add a symbol because I dint know if we had to.I dint really want to make another one because it would waste time but I already like mine. After seeing others presentation I thought to change it because i got many other ideas.

I got so many ideas after seeing everyone's projects. It was fun seeing other's present because I get the courage to present.I learned about Hitler from both the books.I never understood why Hitler was mean against the Jews.I loved everyone's poster the way they designed it and all the pictures they had.

  4. I really enjoyed this project and my character was Alfons Heck, I learned a lot about him. Also this was funny, it was the first scrapbook I made, and I like to do some projects. During this project I learned about Alfons Heck and Elisabeth Vetter. Also I though that they liked Hitler a lot expect for Jewish.

I could have found more picture about Alfons Heck when he was 16 years old or when he was young. Also I could put more information about 2 major events. When I was sitting front of the class and presenting, I was little bit nervous. I think I got a bad grade. Because I didn't make a eye contact for a long time with my friends and I read it too fast. When my friends presented their projects I got more ideas and they did the eye contact with others. So I think I did bad.

If given the assignment I will do it again. Because by doing this project I learned a lot about other characters when my classmates presented their own scrapbook. But I hope that we can choose on how we are going do it. For Example, use power point, scrapbook,or other things. I like to use the power point when I am doing my projects. But still I can do this again.

i liked the scrapbook project it was educational and fun. i have seen a few scrapbook but have never made one myself.i got better at writting with punctuation. i learned about the other characters in the two books and world war 2 by looking at other scrapbooks and making mine. looking at the world threw shmuels view was very interesting it made me understand a little more about being a jew back then.

if i had more time i would have been able to do my best. i would have added more info about what happened in poland and a little more about shmuels relashionship with bruno´. i dont think i was confident enough with my work probably because i couldnt do my best. i had so many ideas that i couldnt because of time and other homework, like a page devoted to shmuels dad ,mom AND their jobs.

i would do this project again. I would redo this project again and make some of the changes i said the last paragraph. i wouldnt mind doing it again on a different book as long as the requirements are different. This was a fun educantional expirience. In all this project made me realize whats happened and how people have suffered for freedom of this curse of hitler.

  6. The scrapbook was the far most interesting and fun project I have done in English. I loved the fact that the scrapbook had to be about the Holocaust time period. I really enjoyed working on it because I got to choose the character I preferred. My character –Elisabeth Vetter- was someone I found very interesting. When I was making my scrapbook I felt as if I was Elisabeth Vetter. I learnt so much about the Hitler Youth just by this one person. I learnt how eagerly kids wanted to join the Hitler Youth, what sacrifices they would make just to be part of the Youth, and plenty more.
I think I should of fallen more into my character when I was making my scrapbook. I shouldn’t have only written things that Ms. Mathews expected, I should have had different things a real scrapbook would have. I think I got a little nervous while I was presenting my scrapbook, so I started reading everything that I had written. I should of skimmed through it instead of reading it word for word. Plus I should have looked at the audience more. But otherwise I guess my presentation was good because people paid attention to me.
I wouldn’t redo my scrapbook because I am proud of it. I think I made a great scrapbook about Elisabeth Vetter. I would love to make another scrapbook about someone else. It was a very fun and educational project, which is why I wouldn’t mind repeating it. I also love to do creative things. In all, I really enjoyed this project. It was something new for me because I have never made a scrapbook. So now if someone asks me if I have ever made a scrapbook I can proudly say YES, YES I HAVE!

I really enjoyed doing the scrapbook. I could of added what ever I wanted and make it as creative as I could. I also learned about my character Elizabeth Vetter. Making the scrapbook about her was fun. I had fun doing it.
I would of liked to make a nicer cover but I didn't have the right material. Add more sketchings and doodles. I wanted to add more flowers and leaves maybe somephotos. To make it more colorful. Thats what I would like to change about my scrapbook.
The presentation I loved I did it like my character. I told it with comfidents and I was proud of it. I just wish I could of made the cover more colorful. I would of liked to make it more attractive. Even use construction paper.

  8. I enjoyed this project. It was enjoyable because it was fun and made it easier to learn. I've noticed i learn thing easier through artistic ways. It made it easier because when i was researching most of the things, I accidentally memorized. I find it way easier learning through art.
I wish I could have added more personal information. I also wish i could have decorated it more with glitter, ribbons, etc. I think my presentation was okay except for some stammering and stalling. I should have presented my scrapbook to my family or friends. I also should have been more confident.
I wouldn't do the same exact project again maybe something similar. For example, a portfolio, series of art with a meaning behind it. I also think that we should have been given more details. Also, websites because I really wasn't sure the websites i found were actually correct. Besides these comments everything else was perfect and i enjoyed doing it.

    6. Be sure to add anything that I may have left off...any comments or feelings about the project are welcome.

This scrabook project was really fun. I liked it because it was fun to put together and because I enjoy doing arts and crafts. At the same time I enjoyed it because I learned about the Hitler Youth from the perspective of someone who was actually there, Karl Schnibbe(the character I was doing).Doing the scrapbook made me learn not only about the Hitler Youth but it also helped me with my presentation skills. Before this project I had an issue with my presentation because I wasn't speaking loud enough, but this project made me confident, so i spoke louder. This project was fun in all.

-n my scrapbook, I wish I could add more detail in the last few pages. I felt the last few pages were slightly too plain. I thought my presentation was nice because I spoke loud enough. However during my presentation I was a bit nervous, which made me mumble a few times. As I said before , I was confident
    About my scrapbook.

I would be more than happy to make another scrapbook because this expirience was interesting. It was awesome seeing other people's hard work. If I could change anything, I would make my theme modern. At the same timeI wouldn't mind making the theme old. This scrapbook expirience was one to remember, I really enjoyed it.

I enjoy being another Herbert Norkus, because he was one of the important person of the Hitler youth, he taught a lot other kids how the be proud of being one of the Nazis party and fight for the respect of the nation.
The scrapbook help learned more about what happened in Germany before the Holocaust and after it, and i also learned that Hitler hated Jewish for his personal reason.
I wished i could find more information about Herbert and his life before he dead.

I felt like changing everything but it was too later to change, and i think i did bad on my presentation and i didn't have that much pictures to show to the class and to explain more with my story.
I think, i would like to do this type of project again, i need a lot of time to finish the hole scrapbook.

I enjoyed the project. I liked making the scrapbook and learning more about Elisabeth Vetter. I picked Elisabeth Vetter because what she did to her parents shocked me. I realized people made huge sacrifices just for Hitler. I loved learning about the Holocaust and all the things that had happened.
Yes, doing the scrapbook helped me learn a lot. By doing the scrapbook I had fun and I learned a lot. I learned about Elisabeth Vetter, I learned how to make a scrapbook and many other things. It was different way of doing a project. I liked it much better.
I wish I had added in a symbol for my person. That was one the things I forgot. I wich I had done better on my presntation too. I wish I had spoken louder and slower. I should have also looked at my audience more.
Yes, I would love to do this assignment again. It was fun and I also learned.

I enjoyed the project because I have never done a scrapbook before and it was a lot more fun then I expected, but sometimes it got a bit frustrating when I didn't know what to write. For example, the two important events I had to work on for about one hour each. And also I didn't feel to good when I was writing from the perspective of a Nazi, because I think it's completely horrifying what they did. But I enjoyed it to the most part. I somehow got to know my character (Ralph, Brunos dad) and the book "The Boy in The Striped Pyjamas" a lot better.

I wish I had the time to make my scrapbook more "real", maybe burn it or put some dift on it. I really liked what the others did to their scrapbooks to make them look real, for example Wani, he put some footprints on the pages which was really cool. I also wish I had the time to change the book, because now I just stapled som papers together and it didn't look very nice. I am very proud of my presentation since I was really nervous, but I guess I could have spoken a bit clearer and looked up from my scrapbook more. But overall, I am super proud.

Yes, I think I could do it again, but not for a while because I was REALLY stressed out when I worked on it and I think it would be nice to get a little break and just relax. Later on though, I would love to do it again because it was so much fun and I learned so much. If I get to change one thing, I would choose more time.
